1923: Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning

1923: April 5, 2019; 8:45 am - 4:15 pm. Registration begins at 8:15 am. (Shreveport).   Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Questioning (LGBTQ) Clients: Clinical Issues and Treatment Strategies. Presented by Michael D. Gatson, Ph.D., ACSW.  Willis-Knighton Pierremont Hospital, 8001 Youree Drive, 2nd Floor Conference Room #203, Shreveport, LA 71118 .   This presentation will examine research regarding basic definitions related to LGBTQ persons.  Provider’s training, experience, and comfort in working with gender and sexual minorities, the impact this has on LGBT patients.  Clinical considerations to attend to during evaluation, assessment, treatment, and interaction with LGBT persons.  We will discuss the referral, and direct intervention, including how to increase your awareness of essential resources to assist in providing care.  The program aims to improve insight and skills to effectively, ethically, and empathetically support LGBTQ and minorities.  The workshop will use a variety of learning approaches, including group discussion, experiential exercises, and lecture.   6.0 Clinical hours.     Pre-registration deadline is 3/29/19.  Limited to 27 participants.
