Alexandria Region - Self-Care: A Tool to Support Mental

244100_036:  "NASW-LA Alexandria Region Sponsored Workshop" FREE for Members. Topic:  Self-Care: A Tool to Support Mental Wellness in Social Work Practice. Presented by:  Angela Moran, LCSW-BACS.  During this presentation participants will:  Gain knowledge of the NASW Code of Ethics amendments regarding self-care for social workers.  Define self-care and radical self-care.  Articulate the benefits of self-care practices for overall wellbeing of social workers and social work clients.  Identify practical tools and strategies for developing a self-care routine.  Integrate self-care into intervention techniques in a clinical setting.  1.0 Clinical hour.  Pre-registration is required for planning purposes.

Presenter Bio

Ms. Angela Moran is a native of Alexandria, LA. Angela obtained her Bachelors of SW from Northwestern State University in 2009 and her Masters of SW from Louisiana State University in 2013. She has held her LCSW licensure since January of 2018 and her BACS since 2021. She has previously worked as an outpatient substance abuse social worker and Primary Care social worker at the Alexandria La VA Medical Center. She currently serves as the Intimate Partner Violence Assistance Program- Coordinator (IPVAP-C) for the Alexandria VA Medical Center.  In 2021, Angela began to serve as a member of the Minority Mental Health Committee to begin creating space to hold conversations about the difficult topics of race, racism, and minority mental health at VA Medical Center and in the local community.  In 2021 she created The Sunflower Chronicles: Self-Care Blog and Personal/Professional Development Services.
